How does using a lumbar support help?
Today, the indispensable tools of our accelerated world are the car and public transportation. Almost all of us are part of the journey every day. We either drive or are passengers in a car, bus, tram, or train. It is therefore very important to travel safely in this life situation, in a seated position that protects our spine. But why can travel pose a danger to our spine?
Sitting in a car puts the intervertebral discs at risk! Slumping into the bucket seats of modern cars causes the front parts of the vertebrae to move closer together, which over time promotes herniation and wear of the discs. This illustration clearly shows the hunched posture that our spine adopts when sitting in an average car seat.
A Benergo lumbar support eliminates this dangerous, hunched posture. By outlining the natural curvature of the lower back (lordosis), it creates the natural position of the vertebrae, thereby eliminating the excessive pressure on the intervertebral discs. This is the key to the long-term health of the seated spine. The lumbar support should be placed behind the lumbar concave spinal curve, the lordosis, so not at the bottom of the seat, but about a hand's breadth higher, just as shown in the illustration.
The secret of a good lumbar support
During the design of the Benergo lumbar support, our most important consideration was finding the optimal sizing and shape. If the lumbar support does not fit properly to the lordotic curve of our back, it cannot perform its spine-protecting function.

The correct use of the lumbar support
A lumbar support size is good when the lower back becomes so concave that the nape can be pressed much more easily against the seat headrest than without lumbar support. Besides its beneficial effects on the lumbar section of the spine, this aid is also very useful for the intervertebral discs of the cervical spine!
The lumbar support is equipped with a counterweight connected to the cushion by a canvas strap. Pass the counterweight through the gap between the top of the seat and the headrest, and let it hang behind the seat. You can now adjust the cushion to the desired position, which will stay in place after getting out due to the counterweight. It is important that the convex side of the cushion always faces our spine!
ATTENTION! Using the Benergo lumbar support may initially be uncomfortable. This is because our skeletal system is accustomed to incorrect slouched sitting. You may feel that the lumbar support presses on your lower back, which is unpleasant, uncomfortable, and unusual. If you feel this way, do not put the cushion aside, as this feeling is natural.
